Posters for Base212

It's been quite awhile since I last did a post on here but I thought why not share one of the bigger things that has been going on lately.

Over the last six months i've been working closely with the company Base212 to create a poster line that finally saw daylight this February. It's going to be very exciting to see what will come of it but for now i'll leave you with some pictures of the posters I did and when they were at display at a interior designfair called Formland / UP at the Base212 booth.

And to add to the excitement of that my print with the Ostrich, printed on wood, got featured in two big national papers, Politiken and Berlingske Tidende.

I will update more since i've been busy bee and there is so many exciting things going on that one post simply won't do it.

Sketchbook sneak peek #3

Just a little peek at some things i've been working on today. The middle on has been dragging on for ages.. I can't seem to put the finish on it but it will come to me at some point I hope! Now, for the two I was drawing them when I was a little bit pissed off which usually never is good for when im working but this time it fucking kicked ass. Sorry about the language. I'm working very hard on completing my online portfolio so I can get going on doing some applications for internships - I properly wont be too upset about not getting in certain places but I will be looking forward to getting some critique on my work! :)

Move to motivate

I've got a lot on my plate as i've been on about, some moments i'm on a high and at other times it gets a bit much but, but! I have some seriously exciting things happening near future regarding poster designs that I will hopefully be able to tell and show more of as soon as everything is inked.

Now, I'm also working on my portfolio to get it ready for some internship application but loads of projects and a little bit of sickie time has kept me from developing it further. I'm in the process of making a lot of things more official in terms of my different sites ect.

Also, I realized it was 2012 and that instagram is quite a fun thing to be doing.. I've yet to do a proper 'look-at-me-i'm-cool' picture but i'm sure I wont be able to resist for much longer.. follow me at @sidseljdk

Until then i'll leave you with this video I am working on.. note 'working on'! Needs alot of tightening up and some sequences needs to be replaced but I just love working with public domain - you find the most amazing clips. Everything is credited in the description so you can go there to find where I got the footage from.

Slow life down

I was sitting on the bus on my way home when these two fancy dressed boys were in the seat in front of me talking about living life in the fast lane. To them being busy equalled a certain level of cool. But being busy all the time and constantly being on the go wasn't enough it seemed. They couldn't be to busy or in enough of a hurry. One of them proudly showed the other that he even had two cellphones to juggle different aspects of his life so he wouldn't miss a beat.

It got me thinking that sometimes when people are so focused on the idea of being busy, achieving and striving after goals ahead of them trying not to miss out that they doing exactly that. Missing out of what's now to get to what might be.

I like living life both ways; sometimes having loads of things happening and other times at a slower pace to enjoy the moment.

When there is too much on my plate I slow things down by working which might sound silly but completely zoning out while illustrating does wonders. I think the reason a lot of my work and thoughts revolve around forests at the moment is because to me in forests time is non-existing, the air is fresh and clear and the scenery allows your mind to wander.

I've used Illustrator and Photoshop for this print but haven't been able to get to the look I want just yet.
This print needs to be darker, grittier and heavier but for now I'll let it breath a little.

Consume till you die

I should take these late night walks more often. Passed my favorite building that's up for demolition to look at the cool art. Also I dug out this trenchcoat I got from a friend of my dads that inherited from the old rich guy that lived in the other end of the country. I think thats how it went down but if not I still like to think of it as that. It's got the perfect mix of hiding space, creepy and superman cave.

Blue hair is not only for old ladies

Listened to this over and over again this previous winter. Found it again today.
Then this hard stare blue haired thing happened.

I like it.

I've hardly settled in the new place and gotten back on my feet before projects come crashing in left and right. I guess it's very good but sometimes I completely relate to the idea of isolated living, far far away in a forest being dependent on only few things. Never going to end up there but when things get a bit too hectic it is nice to give it a good thought.

Sketchbook peek#2

I've been spending some time in beautiful Istanbul with two good friends recently which recharged me and got me ready for school and the craziness of work. I've been working around some pretty insane deadlines for work which has left not much room for anything but that. I also met some cool and inspiring people along the way in Istanbul and when I went to Stockholm on a short visit I was so fortunate to do the same but that aside here is the second installment of Sketchbook peek which is a result of good people, amazing music and some hella cool new pens I aquired while abroad.
